Bluesky
Well, I made the move to Bluesky and deleted my ExTwitter account. I felt less inclined to engage with people there and more like I was just getting raged at. The ad hominem responses were ridiculous. Commenting with facts never got an acknowledgment—just another round of strawman arguments, whataboutisms, or non-sequiturs. After a while, I wasn’t sure if I was interacting with bots or actual humans.
My posts also got less and less engagement because I refuse to pay Musky when I am the one providing the content. The whole point was for users to give the platform content, and in return, it would provide engagement. That engagement drives stickiness to the site, which allows targeted ads to display and generate revenue. This double-dipping BS is not what I signed up for back in 2011.
Bluesky feels like the Twitter of old, minus the occasional Fail Whale. There’s actual engagement again with people (I hope they’re real people). The discussions feel adult and productive—not like toddlers throwing food because they didn’t like my words.
I hope the team at Bluesky can keep the app from falling into enshittification, like ExTwitter has now.
