Why do we call it a “washing machine” but not a “dryer machine”? Yes, it’s a machine, but we just call it a dryer. It struck me as odd this morning while looking at it. And why, when we refer to both, it’s “washer and dryer,” but on its own, it’s “washing machine”? Also, why do we say “hot water heater”? The word heater already implies hot water. Why not just “water heater,” “hot water,” or simply “the tank”? (Thanks to Laura Kern for that insight.)
Well, I made the move to Bluesky and deleted my ExTwitter account. I felt less inclined to engage with people there and more like I was just getting raged at. The watch I want is a mechanical watch that has a transparent LCD screen as the glass watch face. Thus, the watch looks awesome in any light for telling the time. But when notifying of meetings, messages, etc, — or when I touch the glass — the LCD glass kicks in and I can see the message. Oh, and keep it round! Please techies, get on that. (I wanted this when the first digital watches came out. Need the LCD glass technology to catch up)

It was a running joke that we had an remote employee from another state. Not to confuse the person with local people, someone in the office mashed up their name with the state. It stuck when describe that person to other people. I was curious how many state names, first name mashups there are are there. It could be first name + state name or vice versa. To any person who has been stuck on the thruway near Buffalo in a blizzard, I feel for you. This year there wasn’t a lot of snow. But for some reason I was thinking about blizzards.
